Celine Navarro of The Green Frog Studios from somewhere in the south of France… you rock! I was so bummed because I got sick and wasn’t able to make it to a scrapping class given by this brilliant and talented woman, who is visiting here from France. The class was being held this weekend in Pasadena and because of the drive and the schedule it would have not done much for this cold and the rest my doctor told me I needed. But I am sure she’ll be back and maybe I can make it next time. She has inspired me to get out all my paper scraps and start collaging again. There sure are a lot of talented people out there!

Another great and inspirational Flickr site. So many talented people with wonderful ideas. Makes me want to pull out all my crafts and get going. It has inspired me to get a Flickr site when I have some stained glass samples from my new class, which just got started. I’ll be fun. And I will finally have an excuse to photograph my tiles and put them on Flickr too.

You never know what you may find at Copacetique but it’s always a surprise. Everything is handmade or vintage and always unique, and these little felt owls are so cute (they have names too!) - whooo wouldn’t want one?

Penelope paints entire stories with minimal scenes. It makes me think of wooden toys from childhood yet the colors provide an air of sophistication. Every piece is seemingly simple yet full of whimsy & emotion!

When ordinary tape won’t do… just too boring you can add life to your dull packages with this bright packing tape!

It’s always nice to find a new place to eat. I love ethnic food, so living in north county… I have to dig around, it’s not like living in Montreal or New York City … BUT you can find interesting places to dine. Azafran is a great place to eat for 2 or more so you can share the enormous dishes. Delicious for meat eaters, and plenty of fish and a strictly vegetarian dish can also be found… try the sampler plate and share (while moaning), and sipping on the oh, so delicious Mojitos… yum! If you make this recipe the trick to getting the flavor right, is to crush the mint so the scent and flavor will be released… they don’t have a website, but here’s where to find them. Mojito
the original authentic recipe from Havana Cuba
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Juice from 1 lime (2 ounces)
4 mint leaves
1 sprig of mint
Havana Club white Rum (2 ounces)
2 ounces club soda
There are countless recipes for the Mojito (pronounced moh-HEE-toh), but this version is for the one Hemingway himself enjoyed at the Mojito’s place of birth: La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba. If you are throwing a Cuban theme party (Havana night themed party), plan on serving mojitos. Place the mint leaves into a long mojito glass (often called a “collins” glass) and squeeze the juice from a cut lime over it. You’ll want about two ounces of lime juice, so it may not require all of the juice from a single lime. Add the powdered sugar, then gently smash the mint into the lime juice and sugar with a muddler (a long wooden device, though you can also use the back of a fork or spoon if one isn’t available). Add ice (preferably crushed) then add the rum and stir, and top off with the club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig.
